This work is part of a series for different chamber and symphonic ensembles. The "Retrato V" for string quartet is divided in two setions. In the first one the dissonant setcions ineract with the consonants creating a musical linear discourse. As far as the work is concerned, it conludes with a fast and light movement where the clear and festive sonorities predominate. We can clearly distinguish two themes.
The première of the work was in charge of the Ensemble Contemporaneo Universitario of Costa Rica.
