Comments:
With the tragic and enigmatic death of Eunice Odio ocurred in Mexico City it disappears “the best American poet of this century”, in poet Carlos Zeelner’s words. In a volume published the year after in Venezuela by the publishing house Monte Avila there is a compilation of the correspondence between Juan Liscano and her from February 1965 to 1974 (the year of his death) and also some texts sent to the magazine “Zona Franca”.
Venezuelan writter Jian Liscano says: “Ignored, misunderstood, unknown, it doesn’t even appears in any page of the pompous, common and best-selling anthologies of the last years that repeat, praise and inflate figures projected to fashion toothpastes”. This musical composition for classic harp pays homage to her poetry and to her honorable and heroic acceptation of loneliness. The score has the following passage of one of her poems that I quote below:
"Tu dulce cuerpo de rocio, arremolinado y repentino, que cuando uno lo busca en la ventana, solo ve su medida de alegria."
Arcángel Castillo
